The studio has a real sense of momentum this month - in fact I’m run off my feet!

Several projects have now come off the waitlist and officially begun, which means I’m deep in concept design across a mix of custom homes and larger-scale renovations. This stage is where the real thinking happens - working through site constraints, layout, light, planning considerations and how each home needs to function day to day, before anything is locked in.

At the same time, I’m getting projects to strong, well-considered milestones ahead of my upcoming leave in March/April, so everything continues to run smoothly for clients while I’m away.

This week alone brought three new enquiries, to my already bulging project calendar. 2026 has capacity for only a couple of new projects. If you’re considering a new home or significant renovation, now is a good time to begin that conversation.

I’ve also finally booked a long-awaited photoshoot of my own home in the coming weeks. With award season approaching, it feels like the time to document the house and share the thinking behind it - something I’ve been meaning to do for a while.

I often see how the design process can be confusing for clients. It’s important to have a clear design lead from the very beginning of a project. Someone who can see the bigger picture - building design, interiors, planning and lived experience -and guide those early decisions in a way that supports the whole home, not just isolated parts of it.

This has led into the topic I’m exploring this month - clarifying roles in design, and what matters when choosing the right person to guide your project from the start.

This project rethinks the idea of a shed and a home as one considered whole. What began as a shed-led layout has evolved into a beautifully resolved home, blending utility and domestic life into a cohesive, well-considered design.
